Birdcage is a specialty home furnishings store with a magical mixture of accessories, personal care and fragrances-- all with a French Country flair.
Ditching her first career as vice president, creative services at Showtime, the cable TV network, Caroline Dorson and her husband Brett sold everything and bought a 35-ft RV to head west from New York. With her experience in producing and designing for television (not to mention that New York savvy) she decided to create her own business in specialty home furnishings, Greenwich & Charles, a smaller store in San Diego. Soon after she acquired Birdcage Caroline brought the store to a new level with fabulous new offerings and services.
Even in difficult times Caroline sticks to her vision: "We do everything we can not to look like everyone else." Her philosophy for merchandising and design is always color, comfort, beauty and quality. Overstuffed sofas and chairs designed by Caroline grace the shop and can be custom made in unlimited colors and styles.

The shop creates vignettes under Caroline's direction with merchandising manager Claudia Osorio. Shipments are received daily and vignette changes are made several times a week.
Caroline does all the buying for the store, mostly in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta. She is careful to purchase only finely handcrafted French or English Country case goods, occasional furniture and upholstered furniture made in the USA. Many of these products are private label and made especially for Birdcage.
Best-sellers at Birdcage have always included its large selection of luxury linens from Peacock Alley, clocks, wall art, candles, florals, lighting, hand forged iron beds and specialty items for the home.
Birdcage has been featured on the CBS Early Show, and in Better, Homes & Gardens, Decorating, San Diego Home and Garden, Ranch & Coast, Imax Corp. and North County Times. Birdcage has also won 2010 Retail Stars Award by Home Accents Today and is recognized as one of 50 top independent retailers in the country.
